Business Members pledge to donate one percent of an appropriate source annually. For some businesses, that means one percent of sales, for others one percent of profit, and for others one percent of a product line or corporate division. What’s important is that when you become a Member your business is engaged in support of educational equity. No business is too large or too small to make a positive impact for our Nonprofit Partners and the children and families they serve. We’re happy to work with you to establish a comfort level about which you feel great!
The Membership Process
When you click on the Sign-Up line at the bottom of the page, you will be directed to Create Your Account. Enter basic information about your business and create your business login.
You will then be phoned by OnePercent for Education staff to confirm the basis of your annual 1% donation. Once this has been done, you can login to your Business Member webpage to sign the Pledge Agreement.
We’ll ask you to submit your logo and to enter your Donation Preferences should you be willing to accept funding requests or potentially use the Achievement Fund for your donations.
How It Works
Businesses may make donations directly to one or more of our Nonprofit Partners. While some businesses are eager to participate, they may either not have the staff time, interest or ability to select the recipients of their donations. Businesses are encouraged to ask OnePercent for Education for advice regarding their donations.
We also encourage our Business Members to take advantage of the OnePercent for Education Achievement Fund for a quick and easy way to give. When Business Members enroll, they indicate their preferences regarding how they want their funds disbursed. Businesses can designate geographical area, programmatic interest, age of recipients and more. Members choosing this option donate to the OnePercent for Education Achievement Fund. Once funds are received, we will match your donor preferences to the Nonprofit Partner(s) whose programs and services best meet your criteria. Additionally, businesses will be allowed to count the time given to employees to volunteer during working hours for up to 1/3 of their annual pledge.
Businesses may opt out of membership at any time but are prohibited from using the OnePercent for Education logo or mention of their affiliation once they are unaffiliated.
