How Does A Foundation Join?

Foundations pledge to donate OnePercent of appropriate funds annually to vetted Nonprofit Partners of OnePercent for Education. Pledging Member Foundations enjoy the right to use the OnePercent for Education logo as a way to communicate their commitment to educational equity.

We’ve done the heavy lifting to build a sound portfolio of cradle-to-career approaches across six focus areas grounded in the science of learning and development to advance educational equity throughout the Bay Area. All of our Nonprofit Partners adhere to our Standards of Excellence.

How It Works

When signing up, Foundation Members create a profile indicating their preferences regarding how they want their funds disbursed. Foundations can designate geographical areas, programmatic interests, age of recipients and more. When Foundation Members fulfill their pledges, we use the profile to match funder preferences to the Nonprofit Partner(s) whose programs and services best meet member grant-making criteria. Foundation Members can also designate one or more specific Nonprofit Partners to receive their grants. We provide as much support in grant-making as our Foundation Members require.

When Foundations Participate, they:

  • Help shape the future for nonprofit programming yielding measurable results in educational equity.
  • Save valuable staff time in evaluating eligible grant recipients and impacts of funded programs and services.
  • Contribute to a more equitable and vibrant Bay Area.
  • Strengthen the movement for educational equity through display of the OnePercent for Education logo.

Our Member sign-up process is simple and quick. Most new members are reporting that their sign-up required between 2-5 minutes to complete. Once we receive your information, you’ll be able to activate your Foundation Member benefits right away. Have questions? Want to view a sample Foundation Member Pledge Agreement? A Note from our Board Chair

With great sadness, we regret to inform you that the Board of Directors has decided to wind down and dissolve OnePercent for Education; and the organization has initiated the dissolution process. One of our primary goals was to galvanize members of the business community who had not participated or had not fully participated in social engagement. Another goal was to engage individuals and families in our work for educational equity.

We continue to believe that there are people who care deeply about the issue and that there are significant financial resources that can be generated to support this movement. Despite our efforts, OnePercent for Education was unsuccessful in generating enough funding to achieve financial sustainability at this difficult time.

Every decision made was through the lens of how we can best bring support for the kids who need it the most. This is the work that our Nonprofit Partners deliver every day and will continue to do. Our Board of Directors will individually continue to promote their efforts and encourage support of their work. As we wind down, we are distributing as much of our remaining assets as possible to our Nonprofit Partners. While each Nonprofit Partner has received modest funding, this is far less than we had hoped, given the importance of their activities.

We urge each of you to support our Nonprofit Partners in the fulfillment of their missions as it so deeply impacts the communities they serve.

Finally, we thank you for your support of OnePercent for Education.
